Long standing Puffer friend and supporter, Katie Fforde, has written her latest romantic novel based on the Puffer.
It will be on sale from Feb 11th and can be bought by phoning Cathy on 01546830232 or through the online shop.
There will be a book launch in the Crinan Hotel on March 5th in the evening so if any one would like to meet the author and buy a signed copy they will be welcome.
Here’s what Katie says,
‘I have known VIC 32 almost as long as I’ve known Nick and Rachel and she has always seemed the perfect subject for a novel. Her early history, and her history since Nick and Rachel have owned her, is long and full of highs and lows. I have experienced a bit of both. There was a time when the boiler clinkered up and this had to be lifted from the boiler with pincers. I helped do this and earned the accolade I am most proud of, ‘The Clinker Queen.’ The fact that I was six months pregnant may have had something to do with this. As for the highs, well, too many to mention.
However, for ages, I couldn’t think how to base a book on the puffer until my agent spotted her while travelling to Jura (he is also George Orwell’s agent.) He didn’t know I knew VIC 32 then but suggested I might be able to use her in the novel that was in the planning stage. I instantly saw how she could star in it, as befits her status.
Summer at Sea also includes some characters who may be faintly recognisable.’
